The Netherlands-Darfur women Foundation VOND established in May 2005; emerged as an act of solidarity with the women of Darfur with the aim of alleviating the sufferings of these women and to support the effort of women organizations in Sudan, in general and in Darfur, in particular which strive to empower women in this war-devastated remote and poor part of Sudan.
VOND aims at creating a platform for progress and change, it advocates for peace and pledges to help fostering unity among the women of Darfur and other Sudanese women in Sudan and The Netherlands.
VOND is a non-profit, non-government and non-political civil organization.
Moreover, VOND pledges to consolidate unity among Sudanese women living in the Netherlands in particular and the African women in general.
VOND’s vision is; promotion and realisation of peace for Darfur people, development of Darfur, and integration of Sudanese women within the Dutch society. We work with the people rather than for the people, based on their choices and preferences.
VOND’s mission is the empowerment of the women of Darfur, Khartoum and the Netherlands, and participation in Dutch community and in rebuilding of Darfur.
VOND’s Objectives are:
Stimulation of the social and cultural contact between Darfuri women living in The Netherlands and women living in Darfur.
Empowerment of the women of Darfur through, education and skill-building.
Advocate for peace and reconciliation among the Women of Darfur,
Promotion of the culture of peace, conflict resolution and cultural relationships among the women in The Netherlands and in Sudan and
To raise the women’s awareness about the precarious life-threatening conditions due to the on-going civil war in Darfur.
Support small projects of: (a) self-help women projects, (b) well-intended projects which belong to community based organizations, and (c) projects of non-governmental organizations to obtain an overall benefit for Darfuri people.
Support the awareness raising programs on gender, health, sanitation, environmental protection and prevention of acute diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
Promote the Darfur’s social and cultural activities in The Netherlands.
